As I sit here in my room at home, it is crazy to believe that the fall 2008 semester is complete. I have checked my grades incessantly since finals were completed, and I ended up with a 3.7 for the semester. I only had two B's; the rest were A's. This is exciting news, since I was expecting to make a C in one of the classes.
This semester has been a good one. During the summer, I worked band camp again and, after returning home, helped the NBHS band with their summer band. The fall semester began with me preparing for my senior recital and final marching season with the Showband of Arkansas. Both of our shows were good choices for the group. This semester also made for a decision that was extremely difficult to make, but in the end, I am glad I made it. I decided to go Alumni in Tau Beta Sigma that way I could spend more time on my studies. Plus, there was no way I could have afforded it at all this year. I had to take a student loan out for the first time ever this semester in order to make it through the semester. I also needed a new laptop because my other one does not turn on anymore unless I use my mom's power cord on it.
The beginning of November was busy. The weeks before Thanksgiving held a football game, a brass ensemble recital, on which I played F Horn, a tuba choir recital, auditions for the indoor bands (which I made 1st chair in the second band), the hearing for my senior recital, and my senior recital. It also contained the band banquet, which was amazing. The baritone section received the honor of being named the outstanding section. I received my senior blanket that night as well. I also received an honor that I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would receive. The Brothers of the Theta Phi chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi named Allison Yarberry and me as their Sweethearts. My Brothers are so amazing. I love being able to help out both of the Organizations and the band in whatever way I can find. Sometimes it is difficult due to the stress of classes, but it is fun to be able to help out when I can, and I hope that they do not hesitate to ask for any help if they need it. I will always try my hardest to help both of the Organizations with whatever they need.
The last two weeks before finals brought four papers and tests that had to be done. This was a lot of stress that I did not need, but it makes me appreciate Christmas break even more. On the Monday of finals week, I took my 10 o'clock test, but my 6 o'clock was moved to Thursday due to icy weather moving into the area. On Tuesday at 10 o'clock, I had the final for the last class I needed to take to fulfill the Spanish minor requirements . Wednesday was spent on cleaning and packing. Thursday, I finished the last bit of my paper for 20th Century Music and took that and the Ed Psych finals before staying the night at a friend's house. I came home on Friday the 19th, and I am glad that I get to spend a little time at home before we begin visiting people for Christmas on Tuesday. We will come back home Friday night because my sister has to work on Saturday. So keep my family in your prayers as we travel, and I hope that you all have a safe and merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. Until next time...
